When I first saw The Virgin Suicides I instantly fell in love with the dream-like aesthetic that Sofia Coppola had created, especially because it was so close to the way I pictured the Lisbon girls' world in my head when I read the book. When I came across mai autumn's photos I was struck by how wonderfully she had taken the influence of the film and made it her own in her beautiful photographs of suburbia in Upstate New York.

Love these. They certainly have that Virgin Suicides feel. Reminscent of Greg Crewdson's work as well.
ReplyDeleteI love the Virgin Suicides...what a great film, and these images take me right there. I'm a fan of the top one in particular.
ReplyDeleteThat one is my favourite too, Faye.
ReplyDeleteI am also a new fan of this style :)
